Maniac tries to attack queen with car, 4 dead, 13 wounded
Queens Day, normally a day full of celebration, but today a day of tragedy. In Apeldoorn, a 38 year old man drove his car, on purpose, through the crowds, who were there to see the queen, where, as for now, 4 people died and 13 got seriously injured.
In all likelyness, he wanted to hit the bus where the royal family sitting in. He failed doing that however. An obstacle made out of concrete and iron was in the way and made the car, which was heavily damaged already, stop, also preventing more people to get hit. The 38 year old man survived, he is in the hospital right now.

Christian Party wants to ban vegetarian cook book
Today, in a radio show, the Dutch parliamentarian Henk Jan Ormel on behalf of the Christian Party (CDA), said that a vegetarian cook book, supported by the ministry of agriculture, nature and food quality, is "pure propaganda and thus it must be banned".The CDA would like to spend the money on a campaign to demonstrate the public "how useful animal testing is".
Banning the cook book, which is over 10 years old but regulary updated with an eye to recent insights on health and hasn’t been bothered untill now, is not only received as an issue that’s merely a concern of veggies, it is also received by a majority of the public, including non-veggies, as a (further) limitation of freedom of choice and hypocritical as the leading Christian party does promote eating (red) meat, which happens to be proven quite unhealthy.
Most CDA voters come from agricultural rich areas and the party has, traditionally, tight connections with the bio industry.
Confidence in Dutch government practically at all time low
The confidence-o-meter was rising in october 2008 to 48%, but has dropped once again to almost the level of september 2008, which was 43%.According to the latest polls, today, no less than 56% of Dutch citizens explicitly indicate that they don’t trust the current government.
The main reasons for this discontent are mostly financially related. Recently the age to retire has been raised from 65 to 67, along with taxes.Also, prime minister Jan-Peter Balkenende said in february, with an investigation, which he initiated himself, to support his claim, that "the majority of people do trust the government".This didn’t correspond with the conclusions of independent opinion poller Maurice de Hond. Speculatively, that may have caused the further dropping down of the people’s confidence in the Dutch government.
